Positano photoshoot
Positano is the picture most people have in mind when they think of the Amalfi Coast: pastel houses stacked on the cliff, a tiled dome, the sea below. It is one of the most photogenic places I know – and with a little planning, one of the most rewarding places for a couples photoshoot.

Why Positano works so well for photos
Positano is built vertically. Every few steps the view changes – from the lanes full of bougainvillea and little shops, to the terraces over the bay, to the beach with its colourful boats. That means we can photograph a lot of variety in a short walk, without ever leaving the town.

I have photographed many couples in Positano over the years, most of them on their wedding day. The town is beautiful to photograph not only in summer, but throughout the year.
Places for your Positano photoshoot
Every session is different, but these are the places couples love most:

- Spiaggia Grande, the main beach, with the town rising behind you and the boats pulled up on the shore
- The Church of the Assunta and its majolica dome, the landmark everyone recognises
- The lanes and stairways of the old town, full of flowers, colour and shade
- The viewpoints above the town, where the whole of Positano opens up below you
- Fornillo, the smaller and quieter beach a short walk from the centre

Check my dateBeat the crowds: the right time and place
Positano is busy, especially from May to September. The secret is timing and knowing where to go. Beyond the busiest corners, quieter terraces, steps and viewpoints give you photos without crowds behind you.

The hour before sunset is the most magical time. The light turns warm, the houses glow and the sea goes from blue to gold. It is the perfect end to a day on the coast.
Engagements, honeymoons and proposals in Positano
Positano is a favourite for engagement photos before a wedding on the coast, and for honeymoon photos when you finally have time for just the two of you. It is also the place most people ask about when they plan a proposal.

For a proposal, you tell me where and when, I wait out of sight, and I photograph the question, the answer and the celebration afterwards. With so many people around, choosing the right spot matters: a quieter terrace or a viewpoint away from the beach often gives you a more private moment. I am happy to help you plan it.
Practical tips for your session
Positano is a town of steps. Wear something you can walk in – you can always change into nicer shoes for the photos – and bring water in summer. If you are staying elsewhere on the coast, consider arriving by boat: the view of the town from the sea is unforgettable, and it avoids the traffic on the coast road.
Sessions can be short or longer, depending on what you have in mind. You receive your photos as a private online gallery with high-resolution files. For availability, options and fees, send me your date and I will send you my information package.
What to wear in Positano
Positano is full of colour, so simple clothes in soft or light tones usually photograph best: they let the town and the sea do the talking. Flowing fabrics look lovely in the breeze on a terrace or on the beach. Avoid large logos and very busy patterns, which can distract from the two of you.

Bring a second outfit if you like – something more formal for the lanes and the church, something lighter for the beach – and comfortable shoes for the walk between places. Whatever you choose, wear something you feel like yourselves in. That always shows in the photos.

From couples I have photographed
I found Adamo on a Google search and I am so pleased I did… the photos captured our daughter’s small intimate wedding in Sorrento perfectly and we have memories to cherish forever in his photosSally Aris · Sorrento (the reviewer’s daughter’s wedding)
Having been recommended Adamo by a friend we booked him for our wedding in Sorrento. He and his team were absolutely amazing! Adamo was so professional, personal and his way he captured our special day in photos and on film was exactly what we wanted. All of our guests were impressed with his manner, humour and how he and his team interacted with us all. I cannot recommend him highly enough for capturing your wedding/event, he truly is great at his profession.Laura · Sorrento
